found object

i was doing my laundry last night, half asleep, and in my haze, found a MIRROR in the 'free' pile in the laundry room, next to some giant christmas lights. i snatched it and took it home with me five floors up the stairs. i'm so excited. it's oblong, 2 feet long, gold trim, real big, heavy. for some reason, i have constrained myself to using a 8 inch round mirror, and never thought to buying a bigger one (same thing with my stereo system which i've had since age 14.. it's worked fine.. why get a fancier one?)

this will be the beginning of many long nights of staring at myself.

it's a murder, ya lug!

Here's some sketches drawn from the movie "a Slight Case of Murder" (1938). It's a about a bunch of gangsters who own a brewery during the prohibition who suddenly decide to go legit. It was hilarious, had some funny-looking actors, too.

malayan tapir

This is a Malayan tapir.

In Chinese, Korean and Japanese, the tapir is named after a beast from Chinese mythology. A feature of this mythical creature is a snout like that of an elephant. It is said to eat people's dreams.

Tapirs have brown eyes.
